San Francisco dia 1

El Yosemite sigue cerrado cuando salimos de Lee Vining aunque se puede circular por unas cuantas carreteras que lo atreviesan . Tras una breve busqueda nos decidimos por la carretera mas panoramica la 120, en la que avisan que lleves suficiente agua en el radiador del coche y que pares si lo necesitas a rellenar en los tanques que hay en los arcenes de          la carretera.

The Yosemite is still closed when we depart from Lee Vinning although you can drive through the Park as most roads have been kept open. After investigating we chose to cross it via the most scenic road, California State Route 120.

No nos han cobrado la entrada al parque por estar todo cerrado y afortunadamente no hay nadie vigilando que los coches no se paren en los miradores asi que algo hemos podido explorar del parque.  En el tramo final se podia ver el estropicio que han causado los fuegos de este verano.

Because all facilities are closed we have not been charged the entrance to the Park and luckyly there was no one checking if you stopped on the roads or in pullouts so we have been able to explore the park a little.

Tras salir del parque hemos visitado Jamestown donde se han rodado todas las peliculas en las que sale una locomotora; que conocieramos: "Regreso al futuro III". Seguimos confirmando que la gastronomia americana se basa casi exclusivamente en bocatas de carne; hamburguesa, tri-tip, hot dog, ...

 After exiting the park we have visited Jamestown where all films showing a locomotive have been filmed; that we recognised; "Back to the future III". We confirmed again that the gastronomy in the USA is based exclusively on meat sandwiches: burger, tri-tip sandwiches, hot dogs....



A una hora y media de San Francisco empezamos a sufrir el trafico de las ciudades dormitorio: Sacramento, Oakland,...; la entrada la hacemos por el Oakland Bay Bridge atravesando los "mejores" barrios de SF. Hemos llegado un dia antes de lo previsto, he intentamos cambiar las fechas del hostal pero como no habia disponibilidad nos han metido en un dormitorio mixto de seis personas en el que hemos llegado a dormir siete. Tras hacer el check-in nos dividimos, Bonnie y Louise se fueron a los "barrios pijos" de compras mientras Clyde y Thelma atravesaban un agujero espacio-temporal apareciendo en China. Nos reunimos con nuestras pertenencias intactas en Little Italy para cenar y despues ir a un karaoke de Hip-Hop en el que el DJ colaboraba con la armonica y el saxo.

One hour and a half before arriving to San Francisco we started struggling with the traffic of its neighbouring cities: Sacramento, Oakland,..; we entered the city through the Oakland Bay Bridge and some of the "best neighbours"in San Francisco. The arrival date is one day earlier than the original booking date so the only room available is a 6-bed mixed dorm where we have been at times 7 people sleeping in it. After the check-in our group has splitted, Bonnie and Louise went shopping in the "posh hoods" while Clyde adn Thelma went thorugh a space-time hole that took them to China. Reunion with all our possessions intact in "Little Italy" to have dinner and going to a Hip-Hop karaoke where the DJ joined in with the saxo and the harmonica.

Yosemite dia 1

american citizenshipNos despedimos de Las Vegas y nos echamos a la carretera sin tener muy claro que hacer en los 2 siguiente días que teníamos reservado para el Yosemite. De momento hemos hecho parada para comprar provisiones y llenar el deposito en Beatty, la puerta de entrada  al Valle de la muerte.
Nos distraemos durantes estas largas horas de conduccion por el desierto con juegos diversos. Uno de los juegos es el examen para obtener la ciudadania americana y que podriamos aprobar por los pelos.
Parada para dormir en Lee Vining en un motel con vistas al lago Mono y nada mejor que hacer  que ir al bar del pueblo donde nos hemos tomado las cervezas mas baratas de todo el viaje. Luego cena y timba de poker en la habitacion y la esperanza de que se abra el yosemite al dia siguiente...

Bye bye Vegas and on the road again withouth knowing what we are going to do the next 2 days planned for Yosemite. Pit stop to buy food and fill the deposit in Beatty, the Gateway to the Death Valley.
We entertain ourselves in these long hours in the desert with games. One of them is the exam to obtain the american citizenship and that we would hardly pass.
We are sleeping in Lee Vining in a motel with views to the Mono Lake and nothing better to do than going to the local bar where we have been served the cheapest beer of the trip. Dinner and poker in our room and off to be hoping for the Yosemite to be opened tomorrow...
