Conoce la ruta 66

PREPARATIVOS/PRE-TRIP PLANNING

Preparar un viaje no suele ser una de mis actividades favoritas. Ahora que todas las reservas se hacen por internet, todas esas horas navegando por la red para encontrar la combinación de vuelos y los hoteles mas baratos me aburren. Pero esta vez no me puedo quejar, me lo han dado todo hecho y todas las decisiones se han tomado rápidamente. Bueno todas no,…… Paco, vienes o que?.

No ha habido pelea al elegir los roles de cada uno. Ya tenemos tesorero (Paco), escritora (Lucia), fotógrafo (Jordi) y cacharrero (Pablo). Seguro que de esta elección algo se puede interpretar de cada uno.

También se  ha propuesto que cada uno se encargue de una ciudad para hacer de guía. Así que si una ciudad no nos gusta la culpa es exclusivamente de quien se lo haya preparado, obviamente asumiremos que no ha hecho una investigación en profundidad de lo que se ofrece en esa parada y no a que la única actividad de relevancia sea ver un pedrusco.

Si que ha habido conflicto en la elección de parejas piloto-copiloto. Me ha salido bien este “juego de tronos”. Llamadme exagerada pero cuando cada maniobra al volante te transporta al rally de Inglaterra de 1998 con Luis Moya gritándote a todo pulmón; es el momento de forjar nuevas alianzas.

Mencionar que hacemos la ruta 66…… y más porque, francamente, se nos hacía corta y, porque ya que estamos por ahí, como no vamos a ir a …..[INSERTAR CUALQUIER DESTINO EN LOS EEUU]………. Esta última excusa no es la primera vez que se usa en uno de mis viajes a Norteamérica. A cualquier plan siempre habrá que añadirle unos 900km extras para ir a ver…………...[CUALQUIER COSA EN LOS EEUU]. ...En esta ocasión es San Francisco y el Yosemite, si es que queda algo que ver después de los incendios de este verano!.

Planning for a trip is not usually one of my favourite things. Now that bookings are made online, all those hours surfing the net to find the cheapest combination of flights and hotels are extremely boring. This time I can’t complaint, some else has done the job for me and all the decisions have been taken quickly. Well maybe not all of them… Paco, you coming or what?

 There has been no fights when choosing roles. We have our accountant (Paco), writer (Lucia), photographer (Jordi) and gadgetman (Pablo).

 It has been proposed that each one of us picks a city and be the tour guide. Then if we don’t like a city, we will blame exclusively whoever prepare it, obviously we will assume that the person did not do an in depth investigation of what the place had to offer and not that the only thing to do was going a see some rock.

 However there was some clashing when electing the driver/co-driver pairs. I played well this “game of thrones”. Call me dramatic but when every driving manoeuvre transports you to the 1998 Rally of Great Britain with Luis Moya shouting until your ears bleed; it is the moment of forging new alliances.

It is worth mentioning that we are doing the Route 66….. and more; basically because it felt  too short and, because being already  there, we have to go to… [INSERT ANY DESTINATION IN THE USA]……. This last excuse is not the first time it’s being used in one of my trips to North America. To any travelling plan, extra 900km will always be added to go and see ……..[ANYTHING IN THE USA]. On this occasion it’s San Francisco and Yosemite, if there still anything to see after the wildfires this summer.
